SmarterMail uses outdated protocols and we’ve stopped offering it to new clients. We also no longer use it internally. Only a handful of clients are using it and we will eventually phase it out.
We recommend moving your email to Microsoft 365. Each user gets 50 GB of email storage (with Exchange) and 1 TB of file storage (with OneDrive) as well as a host of other things like Exchange Online, Teams and OneDrive all for just $5/user/mo.
Exchange syncs not just your emails, but also your contacts and calendars, across all of your connected devices. OneDrive can act as ransomware protection and backup of your desktop files also.
It’s a lot easier to set up new devices on also. Better technology than older POP/IMAP protocols. Just an all-around better experience. It’s way more than just email, but email has become so critical that it’s worth having a better product than SmarterMail POP/IMAP (20+ year-old technology).
We can do the migration for you. It takes about 3 to 4 hours ($95/hr) to get everything switched over to the new email server. All existing emails on the SmarterMail server will be migrated to the Microsoft server.
